Ana Lucia Gonçalves [1971] Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil
Visual artist and graduate in Fine Arts, UFES - Universidade Federal do Espirito Santo, Brazil. She inherited her mastery of thread from her mother and grandmother, a skill that has allowed her to turn sewing into a space of knowledge and self-affirmation. The needle and the The thread is the brush and ink with which he creates visual narratives on the canvas. Emotion and fantasy color a framework in which theatrical memories, self-representations, affections and childhood are mixed. Among the artist's references are the Brazilian collective Matizes Dumont and the Portuguese artist Cristina Troufa. In addition to the exhibitions held in the academic field, in 2015 she participated with other women in an art exhibition at the Centro Cultural Mestre Assis do Embu, São Paulo. In 2018 she held a solo exhibition Island Jumpers (Jumpers of the Island) at the Historical Museum of Caieiras Island, Espírito Santo, Brazil.
