Sandro Novaes

Sandro de Souza Novaes [1976] Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil

Visual artist, researcher and teacher. PhD in History of the Arts: Artistic Creation and Critical Reflection, UGR - University of Granada, Spain. He works with drawing, printmaking, sculpture and installation. In his visual production he explores issues related to the time understanding, spatiality, immateriality and the phenomenological relationship between artwork and publics. Currently, the artist is represented by the gallery Matias Brotas Arte Contemporanea, Vitoria, Espirito Santo (Brazil). He is also a member of the research group "En los Bordes: Arte público y arte en vivo" (At the Borders: Public and Live Art), UGR. In his research, he develops visual narratives that play with the line's presence in its multiple forms, interacting with painting, sculpture, drawing and installation. He has taken part in group exhibitions both in Brazil and Spain. His works are part of public collections such as Aurora, displayed in Casa do Governador Sculpture Park in Espirito Santo; and Experimento Nido at Vitoria’s Cultural Park Reserve, both in Brazil. In 2018, one of his pieces was acquired by MAR collection - Museu de Arte do Rio (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).
